Fall is here with the drop in temperatures, the pretty colors of the trees in this season and this desire for cocooning which returns. And who says Fall also says Halloween which is fast approaching. 😁
Personally this season is one of my favorites along with spring. Perhaps this cocooning desire that I adore in this season. 😊
Halloween is also a party that I particularly appreciate for all this somewhat paranormal and whimsical atmosphere. It’s the party where vampires, ghosts, witches and other creatures hang out and I’ve always loved reading books in this universe.
I am sharing with you today the pattern of Lucius, the vampire cat, which you can find for free below or in PDF format in my shop!

🎃 Inspiration 🎃
With all this universe that inspires me, I created a new pattern who combines my fascination with these creatures and my love of cats: Lucius, the vampire cat!
Lucius, the vampire cat, may seem scary at first glance but he is actually a very gentle and harmless cat. However, his need to eat candy is essential! If you forget to leave him some candy in his basket, then his thirst for blood might wake up! Never forget to feed him and give him lots of hugs!
Make Lucius with his scary little basket to bring him his daily dose of candy. 🍬😋
I hope you like this pattern and bring that dose of whimsy for Halloween! 🎃

We start by making the legs.
The legs (to do twice)

For one of the legs, Fasten off and weave in ends. Keep the yarn for the second.

Superimpose the two parts.

The base of the basket (in orange):
R1: magic ring with 6 sc

R4: in back loops only, sc in each sc (18)
R5: with the two loops, *2 sc, 1 Inc* x6 (24)

Fasten off by leaving enough thread to sew the handle on both sides to the basket.
Assembly of the candy basket
Pass one of the remaining handle threads through the other end of the handle.
Sew each side of the handle to the edges of the basket.

With black felt, make the eyes and mouth of the pumpkin basket as in the photo above.
Then, glue them on the basket as below with your glue or your textile adhesive.
🧛 Assembly and finishes🧛
🎃 The head
Glue the eyes 9 sc from the top of the head and 4 sc apart between the two eyes.
Delimit the future location of the hat above the head with pins with 5 sc on each side of the crown of the head (i.e. the 1st row made for the head).
Sew the ears from your pins (so 5 sc from the top) leaving a curve shape when sewing. There should be 8 sc of space between the bottom of the ear and the bottom of the adjacent eye.
Cut the canines out of white felt about 1 cm (0.39 inches) high and spaced 3 sc.
🐈⬛ The body
Sew the head to the body.
Sew arms to body inside 4 sc from upper body and 9 sc apart between both arms at front of body.
Sew the tail to the back, positioning the increase row to the right so that the end of the tail is visible in front of the cat.
🦇 The wings and the hat
Glue the wings at the back on the orange part so that it is visible at the front.
Finally, glue the hat on the head by applying glue all around the perimeter of the hat.
